type: press release , Date: 18 June 2021

New rules from Sunday, 20 June at 0:00.

Because the number of current coronavirus infections has sunk in multiple non-EU countries, the Federal Government will now allow entry into Germany from the following countries for all normally permitted purposes, including tourism: the USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia and Lebanon.

The new rules take effect at 0:00 on Sunday, 20 June.

In making this change, the Federal Government is following a recommendation that was issued by the Council of the EU today.

The list of non-EU countries from which unrestricted travel to Germany is possible has been expanded to include a total of 15 countries. Along with the newly added countries mentioned above, the list already includes Australia, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.

Residents of countries on this list may enter Germany without an urgent reason for travel and regardless of their vaccination status.
