Return Policy

Not everyone who comes here to live in Germany is allowed to stay. If an asylum application is finally rejected or if reasons for fleeing no longer exist, the individuals concerned have to leave our country.
In such cases, priority is given to voluntary return and to helping people to move back to their country of origin. Numerous government and non-governmental services provide advice and support to people who are required to leave Germany, with a view to facilitating their voluntary return; they offer assistance with travel arrangements and provide start-up assistance as well as individual reintegration assistance upon arrival in the country of origin.
Individuals who fail to return voluntarily are forcibly returned (“deported”).
