Migration

Germany is an immigration country of great diversity. For economic and demographic reasons, we urgently need immigration.
In addition, we protect people who have fled war and persecution. In order to be able to continue doing so in the future, we need to contain irregular migration.
The Federal Government is ensuring a fresh start in migration policy. An initial package of legislation on migration and asylum is already in effect. It provides for new residence opportunities, specific facilitations regarding immigration by skilled workers and direct access to integration courses. It also contains rules for a more consistent expulsion of criminal offenders.
Furthermore, the Federal Government has introduced a separate legislative package composed of an act and an ordinance to develop immigration by skilled workers, making it easier for them to come to Germany.
